Deathless is a forthcoming short film produced by Besties Make Movies; in March 2023, I was hired to lead a one-day build of a bathroom set featured in the film. The set was a simple three-wall construction, with the enclosed end painted to look like a floor-to-ceiling slate shower enclosure.
With the help of a couple of solid Art PAs, the build was completed in one 12 hour day. We were using borrowed/donated flats, so we began the day by removing errant nails and staples left on their faces, then applied a white primer. We then erected and plumbed the walls, and the second half of the day was devoted to applying the scenic treatments and installing the set dressing components.
This was a successful build on what seemed to be a very fun, buzzy movie (while we built, the crew was shooting a vibrant sex party scene in the studio next door). I went on to collaborate with the art director, Keriann, on another commercial build later in the summer, and loved working with the PAs, Nick and Halle.
